2027 Guber: ALL Eligible Aspirants ‘ll Be Given Equal Chances To Contest — Oyo APC
By Rotela Oguns
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has debunked a rumour making the rounds that it has endorsed one of the prominent members aspiring to occupy the most exalted political seat in the state in 2027.
The party clearly stated that no such decision has been taken adding that it’s an open race for all the politicians nursing the ambition of becoming the governor of the pacesetter state.
The Oyo APC disclosed this in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare and made available to newsmen on Wednesday night.
Sadare, in the statement, noted that there would be no imposition of candidate stressing that due process would be followed for the party’s legitimate standard bearer to emerge.
He added that the party will give all aspirants equal chances to contest.
The statement read in part, “However, all eligible and competent members of our great party who have the intention to vie for political office in 2027 will be given equal chance to pursue their ambition, while we assure the citizenry that our candidates will be ones who can serve their best interest and deliver on their campaign promises.”
There is a growing speculation that the stakeholders in Oyo APC have endorsed a lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sarafadeen Ali to run on platform of the party as its standard bearer.
Rumour has it that Ali is also the anointed candidate of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.
According to this unconfirmed report, Ladoja has “sold” the idea of Alli’s candidacy to President Bola Tinubu and has gotten the Nigeria’s helmsman’s blessing.
However, Sadare, in his reaction, advised members of the party to disregard the rumour.
Four prominent politicians have been speculated to be interested in the sole gubernatorial ticket of the APC and they include former legislator, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, Minister of Power and 2023 governorship candidate of the party, Adebayo Adelabu, a lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sarafadeen Ali and his counterpart representing Oyo North, Abdulfathai Omotayo Buhari.
