Hurray For A True Amazon

We do not often associate courage with the womenfolk. We believe, erroneously though, that they’re timid and vulnerable by nature. We shunt then aside or completely shoo them away from the roundtable dismissing them as a pretty gossipy lot.. This is due to the long-held patriarchal belief that a woman’s place is in the kitchen where she savours the aroma of delicious meal amid the clatter of assorted cutlery. However, a woman like Bukola Akinloye is a different kettle of fish. She has proved her mettle by her achievements and impressive strides in all her interventions. She is a woman of many parts: a philanthropist, humanist, bridge builder, and a resourceful mobilizer. Akinloye is also a grassroots politician to the hilt, an unabashed progressive who sticks to her gun in the pursuit of her party’s ideals regardless of the political weather of the day.

Akinloye is a woman of virtue who has risen to prominence with the combination of her brassy audacity, personable personality and proven leadership credentials. No doubt, she has held her own and shattered the glass ceilings in politics — an activity considered the exclusive preserve of men. A human dynamo who is ever ready to work her fingers to the bone to achieve both individual and collective goals, to call Yeye Akinloye a hard worker is an understatement. Akinloye believes in the dictum that “whatever is worth doing at all is what doing well”; she is indeed a stickler for meticulousness.

Like the Biblical Deborah, Akinloye is not afraid to lead others and walk with swagger on terrains where men fear to set their feet on. Wherever she finds herself, either on the mountain top or the depth of a valley, she confronts challenges head-on, her gaze sharp, and will unwavering. Akinloye pursues her goals with a single-minded devotion, no room for excuses in her scheme of things.

However, despite a hard worker, Akinloye is not mean. She is not a slave driver either. Akinloye is compassionate and considerate. She exudes an overwhelming affection that engulfs anyone that comes her path

Happy Birthday to an Amazon, e o ko wa je pe o. Àse.
