2027: No Kwankwaso, No Problems, Ganduje Assures Tinubu, Yusuf Of Victory In Kano

Umar Ganduje,  former Kano State Governor, has assured President Bola Tinubu and the incumbent governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, of victory in the general elections scheduled for 2027

Ganduje, who is a former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), gave these words of assurance on Tuesday at the green chambers where eight lawmakers officially announced their defection from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC.

“So you can see today, as far as we are concerned, is the day of liberation. 2027 is assured for President Bola Tinubu, and also our Executive Governor, Abba Yusuf and all our members of National Assembly and State Assembly.

“So it’s something that we are really so happy today, and we thank them for that, and we thank Mr President for providing an enabling environment for other political parties to see that APC has a climate of accommodating other members of other political parties.

“And we assure them of full integration in our party. Of course, that is why we are talking of integration. That is, we are now one. We are now a compound, not a mixture,” he said.

Kwankwaso considered to be an influential politician with a large cult following particularly those in his grassroots Kwankwasiyya movement announced his defection from the NNPP to the opposite African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Kwankwaso’s defection is believed to have given momentum to the opposition’s ambition of wresting the reins of power from the APC and a  big blow to the ruling party in Kano..

When Ganduje announced his resignation as the national chairman of the APC sometime in 2025 it was rumoured that it was in preparation for the defection of his predecessor and erstwhile ally, Kwankwaso, who Tinubu desperately wanted in the APC to leverage the ex-Kano governor’s clout for his reelection bid.
