Ibadan Summit: I Won’t Be Part Of “Recycled Failed Political Actors” Masquerading As Genuine Opposition — Sowore
By Akanni Toba
The 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has described those present at the opposition summit held in Ibadan on Saturday as a group of “recycled failed political actors” responsible for the current state of the nation.
Sowore noted that the solution to the country’s perennial problem is genuine alternatives to the current crop of leaders and not those who were once in the corridors of power but now disgruntled for being kicked out of government.
The Sahara Reporters Publisher disclosed this on his verified Facebook page while disclosing the reason he declined the invite extended to him by the conveners of the summit.
The activist stressed that politicians at the summit have “held Nigeria to ransom for years, presiding over stagnation, corruption, and systemic decay”.
.
He asserted that his party, the AAC “will not be part of any charade designed to recycle failed political actors under the guise of “opposition”.
“Instead, we are committed to presenting a formidable, people-driven alternative, one rooted in integrity, accountability, and genuine transformation.
“We will mobilize Nigerians across the country to rally behind a credible vision that rejects the decadence and deception represented by both the @OfficialAPCNg and their opportunistic counterparts in ADC, PDP, Labour Party and elsewhere
“Nigeria does not need a rearrangement of the same broken pieces, it needs a complete break from the past,” he added.
Sowore’s reaction came on the heels of the national opposition summit held in Ibadan Oyo State Capital and which was well attended by prominent politicians in political camps other than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The event was attended by former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, former governors of Anambra, Kano and Rivers – Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi respectively.
Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, former Senate President, David Mark and other top opposition leaders were present.
At the end of the summit the opposition agreed to field to a single presidential candidate to contest the election with President Bola Tinubu and thwart his reelection bid.
