Makinde Issues Executive Order, Restricts Motorcycle Operations As Insecurity Surges In Oyo

As part of measures to combat the growing insecurity in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has ordered the restriction of motorcycle operation between 10:30pm and 5:30am in the pacesetter state.
Makinde issued an Executive Order on the restriction on Friday, while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to rescue the abducted teachers and students from the clutches of terrorists.
According to him, every day the victims remain in captivity is a painful day for their families and the entire state.
The governor assured Oyo residents that his administration will not leave the abductees in the lurch adding that the security operatives were working around the clock to bring them back home safely.
The Oyo helmsman stressed that getting the abducted students and teachers back to the safe bosom of their families was the top priority of his administration.
Makinde added that the “victims have not been forgotten and they have not been abandoned”.
“We may not be able to disclose every step being taken because of the sensitive nature of the operations involved, but I ask our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. A great deal of work is being done behind the scenes,” he said.
The governor noted that there must be collaboration between the governed and the government to strengthen the security of the state, urging residents to “say something, if they see something” so that the security operatives will swiftly swing into action.
The peoplestemplate had reported how scores of people, including students and teachers, were abducted from schools in Yawota and Esinele communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Two days after the abduction a video surfaced online showing how one of the abducted teachers identified as Michael Oyedokun was beheaded by the terrorists.
Meanwhile, while efforts to rescue the bandits were ongoing, a younger sibling of former minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin boys were kidnapped in Ibadan .
These two incidents have heightened tension in Oyo concerning the security situation of the state.
