In what appears to be a holistic approach in his administration’s  decision to allow his cabinet’s members pursue thier political dreams, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has sacked all his appointed commissioners.

He also dissolved the state’s executive council.

The development was announced in a statement issued on  Monday by  the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani.

According to Tijani,  the governor also directed the commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before Friday, April 3.

“The decision is to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections,” the statement reads.

“The governor has therefore directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to the Permanent Secretaries on or before Friday, April 3, 2026.

“Governor Zulum expressed his profound appreciation to the outgoing Commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and invaluable contributions to the development and service of the people of Borno state.”

Zulum’s decision is in accordance with the amended Electoral Act which demands resignation of  appointees seeking elective offices months before the election proper.

President Bola Tinubu and governors of the federation have asked members of their cabinet seeking elective posts to resign on or before March 31.
