Tinubu Meets APC Govs In Aso Rock Amid Heightened Speculation

By Akanni Toba

President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a high-level meeting with state governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting did not go as scheduled as both its timing and venue had to be changed to accommodate unforeseen circumstances.

The venue initially planned to be Council Chamber was moved to the Conference Room of the President’s Office and the time was  changed to 5pm from the initial 4pm.

Governors present at Thursday’s meeting include Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, among others.

Some states were represented by their deputy governors.

While the meeting was well attended, the purpose could not be ascertained as of press time.

A previous emergency closed-door  between  Tinubu and the extended leadership of the Senate on Wednesday evening has fuelled speculation that it may be a crucial matter involving the three arms of government or a strategic meeting held to discuss the president’s reelection bid.

Recall that at the Wednesday meeting, Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, said “far-reaching decisions were taken” on “matters of urgent national importance.”

Bamidele added that the decisions were triggered by a resolution passed at a closed executive session of the Senate earlier the same day.
