How Suspected Bandits Attacked Igboho’s Irù-ekùn Team Members — Eyewitness

An eyewitness has recounted how youth leader, Sunday Adeyemo, and members of his newly unveiled Ìrù-ekùn security outfit were attacked by suspected bandits.
The eyewitness recounted the incident in a video which has since become viral.
According to him, Adeyemo and his Ìrù-ekùn team members were travelling along Iseyin–Igboho road and passing through the National Park forest when they observed something strange.
The eyewitness, who is one of the lieutenants of Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, said they observed that two young boys on sighting their cars started running into the national park forest reserve.
He added that as they alighted from their cars to ask the boys questions about their mission in the forests, the young guys, who were with guns, opened fire on some of the Irun-ekun team members.
“So four days ago on our way from igbeti to igboho, Myself, our Boss Oloye Sunday and others we were in the car passing through the reserve when we suddenly noticed two boys.
“We immediately stopped to ask them questions because they look so young they should be around 24 to 19yrs, but the moment they saw us coming down they started running and we ran after them”
He continued, “But unfortunately we never knew they had gun that was how they started shooting. And they shot two of our boys
“We were able to overpowered in the ensuing gun duel. But a lot happened In that forest that day.
“We deliberately posted those videos of our boys on the floor for all the doubting Thomas that said Oloye Sunday igboho and his boys are acting drama for them to see the type of of movie they claimed we were acting for them to come and act theirs too.”
“Like l said alot happened that day and still happening in that forest that we are still in shock of what we saw but most of it has been reported to the Nigerian Police including the boys We arrested
Our boy’s are now o.k and Oloye Sunday igboho is doing well but the Nigerian government needs to do the needful regarding our forests because lots of illegal mining is going in there”.
On May 15, 2026 gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked three schools in Yawota, Alawusa and Esinele communities all in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The gunmen killed a teacher right in the school premises.
They abductors 47 people including schoolchildren and teachers and a principal from the schools and reportedly led to the national park forest where they have since held them hostage.
A day after the incident a video went viral showing how one of the abductees, a Mathematics teacher identified as Michael Oyedokun was beheaded by his abductors.
In his reaction to the incident, Igboho said he and members of his security outfit would have entered the forest to rescue the abductees but for the refusal of the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, to grant him permission to do so
