Ibadan Summit: Tinubu Far Ahead Óf You, It’s Impossible To Defeat Him, APC Tells ADC, PDP, Others

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described members of the opposition parties as a bunch of stragglers who can’t catch up with President Bola Tinubu adding that the Nigeria’s helmsman is “a man who is several kilometers ahead of them in a marathon”.
The ruling party noted that wresting the reins of power from Tinubu in the 2027 general elections is an impossible mission, advising opposition political figures such as Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Senate President David Mark to stop wasting their time.
APC spoke in a statement released on Sunday by Publicity Secretary of the party in Oyo State, Wasiu Sadare.
“They (opposition figures) are just wasting their time as it is just impossible for them to catch up with a man who is several kilometers ahead of them in a marathon.
“The polls will be hitch-free and credible while he (Makinde) would not find an avenue to escape from the country before May 29, 2027 so that he would be made to answer for the many cases of abuse of office and corruption hanging on his neck,” the statement said.
Recall that members of opposition political parties on Saturday held a meeting, tagged, ‘National Summit of Opposition Political Party Leaders’.
The summit, held in Ibadan, was hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde.
The summit was attended by prominent politicians including former governors Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Also at meeting were ex-Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, Aisha Yesufu, Professor Pat Utomi and former Youths and Sports minister Solomon Dalung.
The opposition parties made a resolution at the end of the summit to field a single presidential candidate that will contest against Tinubu.
Also as part of the communique was the call for the removal of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Joash Amupitan who the opposition berated for being partisan.
