Insecurity: Nigerian Army Reshuffles Senior Officers Across Commands, Appoints New GOCs For Divisions

In an apparent strategic move to face up to the insecurity bedeviling the country, the Nigerian Army has announced a major reshuffle involving senior officers across operational, command, training and staff appointments.
The aim of the move was stated in a statement issued by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu,
According to the COAS, the redeployments are aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and addressing emerging security challenges.
Under the new postings, Major General WM Dangana has been appointed general officer commanding (GOC) 3 Division and commander of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE.
Major General EI Okoro will serve as GOC 6 Division and land component commander of Joint Task Force south-south Operation DELTA SAFE.
The COAS also appointed Major General JR Lar as commander of army headquarters garrison, while Brigadier General OM Oyekola will serve as acting military secretary (army).
Other appointments include Brigadier General IB Buhari as commander of 63 Brigade and Major General SA Emmanuel as commander of the space command.
The army said the reshuffle also covers several training institutions and specialist formations across the country.
Shaibu charged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate professionalism, exemplary leadership and commitment to tackling the country’s security challenges.
