I’ve No Power To Remove Governor, Don’t Drag Me Into Politics — Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has stated that  he has no constitutional or any other  kind of power to remove the  governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, from office.

Ladoja stressed that  by virtue of his position as a traditional ruler he has no political affiliation stressing that his status demands he should be a father to all political actors in Ibadan and Oyo State at large.

The monarch, therefore warned all political figures in Oyo State to desist from trying to use his name or position to score cheap political points as he is not a politician.

Ladoja, who is also a former governor of Oyo State, made these assertions while reacting  to the rumours making the rounds that he and some influential political figures in the state are planning to oust Makinde from office.

Speaking through a statement issued by his  Media Aide, Adeola Oloko on Tuesday, Ladoja described the rumour as baseless and untrue.

According to the statement, the traditional  ruler noted that a person in his position has no power to remove the Chairman of a local government area, let alone a governor

He called on the people not to drag the monarch into dirty politics.

He said “You don’t have to be a former Governor or distinguished Senator to know that a monarch has no power to impeach a Local Government Chairman,not to talk of a State Governor.”
