Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday, said former Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose, deserves pity and prayers of Nigerians, adding that the conduct of the politician, for some time, “smacks of someone who has lost his mind”.

Makinde noted that Fayose’s lifestyle and comportment have been suspect over the years.

The governor made these claims while reacting to the ex-Ekiti governor’s remarks on the recent abduction of students and teachers from some schools in Oyo State.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, the Oyo helmsman described Fayose’s  remarks as false accusations.

He added that  Nigerians were “shocked” by Fayose’s allegation against the Makinde administration

According to Oyelade the governor was currently focused on addressing the security challenges in Oyo State and does not have time to join issues with Fayose.

“Governor Makinde is too preoccupied with finding a solution to the challenges posed by the kidnappers of children and teachers in the state to engage someone whose lifestyle and comportment have been suspect over a long time,” Oyelade said.

He added that “for a former governor to be so consumed by the politics of vindictiveness, vileness, deceit and hate, that he would further endanger the lives of those in captivity and distract security agents from handling this delicate job, smacks of one who has lost his mind.”

The commissioner also referenced past comments allegedly made by Fayose linking the governor to political tensions in the state, including claims related to the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, Oyelade urged Oyo residents and concerned Nigerians at large to remainsm calm while assuring them that the government was working round the clock to secure the release of the abducted persons.

Peoplestemplate had reported how Fayose accused Makinde of failing to respond swiftly to the Oyo kidnapping incident.

The ex-Ekiti governor alleged, without evidence, that the abductions were politically motivated to embarrass President Bola Tinubu

Fayose made the allegation while speaking  on Channels TV on Monday.

According to Fayose, the incident may have been orchestrated  by the state government.

“He did not take any action; no steps were taken. It was after those nominations that he went to the families to visit them.

“I sometimes believe that this [the abduction at Oyo School] was orchestrated in a way, I am not saying totally, by the government of Oyo State to blackmail President Tinubu,” he said.

The ex-Ekiti governor’s remarks have since sparked reactions from various quarters in the country.
