Kidnappers Of Retired Army General List Demands As Wife Urges Govt’s Compliance

After languishing in their den for exactly a week, abductors of former spokesman of the Nigerian Army, retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and his wife have stated their demands for the release of the couple.
The demands of kidnappers were stated by Abubakar’s wife in a four minute video recorded by the kidnapers which has since gone viral.
The video was released in the early hours of Saturday and it revealed that the coupled were held in a thick forest by their abductors.
According to the wife of the Major General, the abductors’ demands included the release of three of their members identified as Sani, Aminu and Nasiru, as well as the return of livestock allegedly seized from them.
Abubakar’s wife stressed that two of the detained individuals were arrested in Jikamshi while the third was arrested in Kano.
She also appealed to the Katsina State Government and leaders of five local government areas to facilitate compliance with the demands to secure their release.
The retired general, who looked morose in the video, talked briefly , called for efforts to ensure peace.
He addied that the abductors had expressed interest in dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
According to Daily Trust, a notorious bandit leader Kachallah Muhammad, who operates in parts of Katsina State, had reportedly established communication with the family of the retired general.
The peoplestemplate had reported that Abubakar and his wife were abducted along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, near Zakin Baure village.
There has been a resurgence in the cases of kidnappings and allied insurgency in the country over the past two weeks
In May 14, 49 students were abducted in a school in Borno.
A day after the Borno incident, on May 15, gunmen stormed schools in Yawota, Esinele and Alawusa communities all in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The gunmen abducted 39 students mostly comprising children and 7 teachers.
Two days after the abduction, Michael Oyedokun, a mathematics teacher at Esinele community High School, was beheaded. The development was seen in a video, apparently released by the kidnappers, which has since gone viral.
