Obi To Tinubu Govt.: Don’t Give Us ADC Treatment, Allow Us to Build NDC In Peace
By Olumuyiwa Olumuyiwa
The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has appealed to the Tinubu administration not to interfere in the activities of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in a bid to make it a divided house that can not pursue its goal with a common front.
Obi pleaded with the government to allow him and members of the NDC to build the party in peace without causing internal crisis using subtle external influence.
He made the remark while receiving members of the NDC in Abuja shortly after he joined the party.
The ex-Anambra governor’s appeal must have been prompted by his experience in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) where the party is rocked by leadership believed to have been caused by the members allegedly planted by the government.
“We want to pull people out of poverty because we want to build a country where a child of no body can become somebody without knowing anybody.
“We are using this occasion to plead with the government of today, you know that I contest election in LP, Kwankwaso contested election in a different party…. the leader has already told us their destination and we are building with them. Respect our democracy, please don’t come here.” Obi said.
He continued, “We are pleading with you, don’t come here, we are pleading with you that we want to have peace, we want to build the party.
“We don’t want cases, we are pleading with the judiciary to end cases in parties.
“Please let there be no litigation. Party members, please don’t go to court. We want to build a party, we are not lawyers.”
